The body is our interface – an instrument allows us to interact with the world. It is not just the hand that touches, but the whole body which feels. A process in which even self-consciousness is embedded. If I touch something, I will be touched by it. I am – here – now.

"We are out of our heads. We are in the world and a part of it. We are patterns of active engagement with fluid boundaries and changing components. We are distributed. Consciousness is something we do."

Sense of touch
Sense of touch
The sense of touch is reconstructing the world, things we touch are directly bound to our body – the body can only feel what it is touching. The physical body allows us to distinguish between ourselves and others – thou it thereby we create self-awareness. Touching something or someone means having physical contact. Touching something affectionately is both, we get in contact with things and are separated from them by the body. Touch is a connection, these connections with others is also an integral part of our relationships.

„Da gibt es ein Glissando, dass über das Betastete dahingleitet, ein Staccato, indem das Betastete abgeklopft wird, es gibt den sanften Druck oder den klammernden Griff – und erst in diesen verschiedenartigen Tastgebärden gewinnt das Betastete eine eigentümliche Textur.“ Bernhard Waldenfels

"The coordination of our body is what allows us to have a reality to believe in, the place of meeting and the place of thinking and feeling and that this is not an isolated thing, this is a shared thing”
